Nordic cooperation

The Ministry of Higher Education and Science participates in several cooperations on education and research together with the other countries in the Nordics.

 

 

Nordic Council of Ministers

The Nordic Council of Ministers is the official cooperation unit of the Nordic governments, and it works for common solutions across the Nordics and is in charge of cooperation between the Nordic governments. The Nordic Council of Ministers was established in 1971, and it consists of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden as well as the self-governing areas of Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Åland. The presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers is rotational between the five Nordic countries and has a duration of one year.

Council of Ministers for Education and Research

The Ministry of Higher Education and Science together with the Ministry of Children and Education participates in the Council of Ministers for Education and Research (MR-U), one of the councils under the Nordic Council of Ministers. MR-U works to create a good education and research community in the Nordics, and its purpose is to strengthen the Nordic education and research cooperation and to strengthen the position of the Nordics in European and international cooperations.
