Global cooperation

International cooperation plays a decisive role in promoting and enhancing Danish research and innovation, and in Denmark being in a position to develop technologies of relevance to Denmark and the rest of the world.

International research and innovation cooperation plays a decisive role for the quality and impact of Danish research and innovation. Through bilateral cooperation agreements and innovation centres abroad, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science works to strengthen the internationalisation of Danish research and innovation.

Bilateral cooperation

The Ministry of Higher Education and Science has entered bilaterial cooperation agreements with the following countries outside Europe: USA, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Brazil, Israel, South Africa, Switzerland, Great Britain, and Canada. The purpose of the agreements is to promote contact and cooperation between authorities, research financing agents, researchers, and companies across the countries.

Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK)

The purpose of Innovation Centre Denmark is to give access of Danish companies and research institutions to foreign knowhow, networks, technology, funding, and markets. The Innovation Centres thereby build bridges between Danish agents and some of the strongest partners within research and innovation in the world’s leading research and innovation environments.

Innovation Centre Denmark is a cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Foreign Ministry, aiming to increase the internationalisation of Danish research and innovation. The Innovation Centres are located in Munich, Tel Aviv, Bangalore, Seoul, Shanghai, Boston, and Silicon Valley, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science has located an innovation attaché at each of the centres.

The Danish University Centre in Beijing

The Sino-Danish Center (SDC) is a joint Danish-Chinese university centre established in cooperation between the eight Danish universities, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The purpose of SDC is to create the best conditions for Danish universities and companies gaining benefit from China’s extensive focus on knowledge and talent.
