Higher education programmes are offered at a number of state-financed independent education institutions that must ensure education of high professional quality and relevance. The different institutions have different profiles and tasks, but all of them must contribute to enhancing Denmark’s know-how and competences.
Each institution plans its range of study programmes within national frameworks and quality requirements. New study programmes and offers are approved by the Minister for Higher Education and Science to ensure relevance and consistency with other higher education offers, among others in relation to geographic spreading, so students across the country have access to relevant higher education programmes.
The field of higher education covers several institutions each with its special purpose and approach.
A number of regulatory instruments exist, regulating the field of higher education. Admission and number of students are regulated through various forms of dimensioning, and new study programmes and offers are approved centrally by the Minister for Higher Education and Science.
